Although Meaningful Use
(MU) is a significant national issue for healthcare stakeholders,
regional considerations may impact EMR adoption and MU compliance. Such
experiences and insights can provide perspective and strategic advantage
for California healthcare stakeholders to position themselves toward MU
compliance.
On Friday, November 5th, this HealthcareWebSummit event will address
those issues. It is co-sponsored by Payers and Providers, and led by
experts from the public and private sector, including the California
Health Information & Partnership Services Organization (CalHIPSO), HITEC-LA
and Sage Healthcare.
About CalHIPSO
CalHIPSO is is an organization founded by clinical providers, for
clinical providers to help them successfully navigate through the
complicated world of electronic health records (EHR) implementation. Its
founding organizations are the California Medical Association (CMA), the
California Primary Care Association (CPCA) and the California
Association of Public Hospitals & Health Systems (CAPH).
About HITEC-LA
HITEC-LA is the exclusive federally-designated health information
technology regional extension center (REC) for Los Angeles County. It is
charged with helping doctors and primary care providers purchase,
implement and use electronic health records in a meaningful way.
About Sage Healthcare
Sage provides physician practice management and electronic health
records (EHR) software and services for small to medium-sized practices
as well as enterprise customers. |

Dorian Seamster is the Director
of Quality Improvement Services
at CalHIPSO, the Regional
Extension Center serving much of
California. At CalHIPSO Dorian
is responsible for helping
primary care providers achieve
and demonstrate Meaningful Use
of Electronic Health Records.
Dorian has focused on supporting
health care providers to improve
the quality of clinical care and
operational efficiencies since
the early 1990s, with a
particular focus on the use of
electronic information systems.
Her previous experience includes
working at OCHIN (a Health
Center Controlled Network
supporting the use of Epic
electronic health record at more
than 30 community health
centers) where she served as the
Director of Quality Improvement.
In this position Dorian
collaborated in the development
of OCHIN’s data information
system, Solutions, to support
clinical quality improvement.
Dorian also led efforts at
California Primary Care
Association to create the first
state-level clinical data
aggregation system for community
clinics through the Accelerating
Quality Improvement through
Collaboration (AQIC) project
funded by the California
HealthCare Foundation.
Dorian has a BA degree in
Administration and Legal
Processes from Mills College in
Oakland and a Masters degree in
Public Health from the
University of Illinois at
Chicago.

Mary Mitchell

|
Mary Mitchell serves as
Director, Meaningful Use for
HITEC-LA.
Mitchell has more than 25
years of information technology
and operations experience in a
wide variety of healthcare
organizations including large
multi-specialty medical groups,
small clinic practices, medical
foundations, and an integrated
delivery system.
Her expertise includes
managing EHR implementations,
project management,
request-for-proposal processes,
negotiating vendor contracts,
designing training procedures,
improving internal operations,
and introducing emerging
technology in cost-sensitive
environments. Her career has
also encompassed software
development, programming,
systems implementation and major
hardware and software upgrades. |
