SDoH for Medicare and Medicaid Enrollees - Deloitte Research: Leading strategies for health plans | ||
Aiming to improve health
care outcomes and reduce utilization, health plans are finding new ways
to address the social determinants of health (SDoH) among their enrollees.
Greater use of the emergency room has been linked to homelessness.
Diabetes-related hospital admissions have been attributed to food
insecurity. And social isolation has been identified as a risk factor
for stroke and heart attack. These are just a few of the ways in which
social, economic, and environmental factors—the social determinants of
health (SDoH)—have been adversely linked to health outcomes, as well as
health care utilization and spending. To learn what MCOs and MA plans are doing to address social needs among their enrollees, the Deloitte Center for Government Insights and the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions interviewed executives and leaders from 14 MCO and MA plans across the country. This project builds upon a previous study by the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions that surveyed a nationally representative sample of hospitals and health systems to learn about their current and future SDoH investments. Please join us on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 1 PM Eastern as Deloitte's Melissa Majerol and David Rabinowitz present Deloitte's findings and insights on the emerging business case for addressing SDoH and the four main strategies and best practices health plans are using to address social needs among Medicare and Medicaid enrollees, in the HealthcareWebSummit event: SDoH for Medicare and Medicaid Enrollees - Deloitte Research: Leading strategies for health plans.
