The AHIP Center for Insurance Education and Professional Development's health care reform implementation online courses and designations focus on the evolving health care system and the impact of reform initiatives.

Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Part A
Start with the
Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Part A, the first course in the series that provides an ideal introduction to health care reform. After you successfully complete the course, you'll receive the Professional, Health Insurance Advanced Studies designation and quarterly e-newsletter updates for 18 months.

In Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Part A you'll learn about:

  • Health Insurance Plan Structures and Alternatives
  • Medicare
  • Prescription Drug Coverage and Part D Taxation
  • New Tax Rules in a Post-Reform Tax Environment
  • Medicaid
  • Consumer Driven Plans, HSAs, HRAs, and FSAs

Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Part B—NEW COURSE
Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Part B expands on what you’ll learn into Part A and focuses on specific health insurance products and policy options.

In Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Part B, you'll learn about:

  • Disability Insurance
  • Long-Term Care
  • Supplemental Insurance
  • Dental Insurance
  • Information on Policy Structuring, Options, and Placement

Earn a Second Designation With Just One More Course
Once you complete Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Parts A and B, you'll be one course away from the Center's newest designation, Fellow, Health Insurance Advanced Studies (FHIAS). To earn the FHIAS designation, simply complete the
Marketing Medicare Advantage and Part D Prescription Drug Plans: Understanding Medicare Basics, Plan Options, and Marketing and Enrollment Requirements online course.

Continuing Education (CE) Credits
Most state insurance departments require you to take continuing education courses to maintain your licenses. Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Part A qualifies for up to 14 CE credits. Click here for a chart by state. You'll receive up to 7 CE credits for the Health Insurance Advanced Studies, Part B course.
