During 2012, over 150 ACOs participated in Medicare Shared Savings
Initiatives, serving over 2.4 million Medicare beneficiaries, with many
more accountable care organizations slated to serve Medicare during
2013. In the private health health plan population, accountable care
arrangements are proliferating with companies like Aetna and Cigna
building national accountable care networks through provider
collaborations. The coming year brings much promise as well as potential
pitfalls for stakeholders as accountable care arrangements mature.
The Third Annual Accountable Care Web Summit features a 90 minute
webinar with three national experts from three industry leading
organizations that will share their organizational experience, insights
and strategic approaches with Accountable Care. Aetna's Charles D.
Kennedy, MD, Chief Executive Officer of Accountable
Care Solutions; and Cigna's
Harriet P. Wallsh, RN, National Business Lead, Collaborative Solutions &
Effectiveness, will each separately detail their respective health
plan's national accountable care approach, strategies and collaborative
initiatives with provider organizations. Milliman's
Rong Yi, PhD, Director, Risk Adjustment and Predictive Modeling
Practice; Senior Consultant, will close by advising stakeholders
how to avoid the mistakes of the 2010s, discussing the pitfalls of
risk-based contracts, the importance of data and how organizations can
strategize to be a successful ACO in 2013 and beyond.
The event also includes three downloadable pre-recorded sessions,
with William DeMarco, President and CEO,
Pendulum HealthCare Development Corporation providing his insights into
key accountable care provider Issues for 2013;
Sharon Beaty, MBA, FACMPE, Chief Executive Officer, Mid-State Health
Center providing a case study of the North Country ACO & Mid
State Health Center’s experience so far in the accountable care arena;
and William A. MacBain, MPS, Senior Vice
