Medi-Cal Expansion 2014 And Beyond

Overview
One of the most crucial and controversial aspects of the Affordable Care Act was the planned massive expansion of the Medicaid program. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the ACA while making Medicaid expansion optional prompted many states to either hesitate to refuse to enlarge their Medicaid rolls.

Not so in California. The Golden State will not only add as many as 3 million of its residents to the Medi-Cal program – nearly 10% of the entire state’s population. Indeed, its preparatory “Bridge to Reform” initiative has already expanded the rolls by hundreds of thousands of lives.

The expansion is an enormous logistical undertaking, requiring not only cooperation among health plans, hospitals, clinics and medical groups, but the help of many peripheral players in terms of identifying potential enrollees as they seek care and sign them up.

Please join Elizabeth Benson Forer, Executive Director of the Venice Family Clinic and Lucien Wulsin, founder and executive director of Insured the Uninsured, on Thursday, October 25, as they explore this topic in a special Payers & Providers webinar event, “Medi-Cal Expansion 2014 And Beyond.”
