communities." - The Honorable Terence R. McAuliffe, Governor,
Commonwealth of Virginia

Overuse and abuse of prescription pain killers is a nationwide
crisis affecting all aspects of society, including Medicare
Beneficiaries.
According to a report from the Inspector General of the Department of Health and
Human Services, more than half a million beneficiaries received high doses for
more than three months, and more than 70,000 received extreme amounts.
What's Needed? How Do We:
-
educate and empower physicians to reduce over-prescribing
-
eliminate physician-shopping by beneficiaries to obtain prescriptions
-
identify the potential of abuse and prevent addiction
-
enhance addiction treatment?
The Honorable Terence R. McAuliffe, Governor, Commonwealth of Virginia, will
focus on what states can do to help tackle this nationwide crisis, including
insight into four bills he has introduced in his state.
Don't miss this
must-attend session at
AHIP's National Conference on Medicare, September 24-26.
