Selected news releases for today's health care executives

Dear Colleague,

In an era of uncertainty, professionals armed with the latest knowledge about judgment and decision making have an advantage that can lead to better results for their organizations.

As someone who makes tough decisions for a living, I invite you to apply to attend Leadership Decision Making: Optimizing Organizational Performance, an Executive Education program offered at Harvard Kennedy School. This program, the only one of its kind at a school of public policy, provides important new insights into leadership based on breakthrough scientific discoveries about decision making. The program's goal is to teach participants the skills they need to become effective "decision architects" - leaders who can design optimal decision making environments within their organizations and improve overall organizational performance.

We are currently accepting applications for the November 13 - 18, 2011 program. The innovative one-week program is intended for senior executives in public, nonprofit, and private organizations who would benefit from identifying fundamental behaviors that affect judgment and decision making, and learning to structure decision making environments to reduce errors and biases.

Leadership Decision Making leverages the latest research in judgment and decision making, translating scientific discoveries into practical strategies through seminars, cases, and activities. The program includes the opportunity for self-assessment in the Harvard Decision Science Laboratory, with expert faculty tailoring the program content to the dynamics of each class. The laboratory self-assessment will give participants an opportunity to receive personalized feedback through an anonymous process and to compare their own data with societal and class averages.

If the program does not suit your current needs, please consider if the program may be appropriate for someone within your organization and share this information with others you think might be interested.
