Harvard School of Public Health-Forces Special

Dear Colleague:

The early registration date for Forces of Change: New Strategies for the Evolving Health Care Marketplace is fast approaching. I invite you to register soon to maximize your benefit from Forces, September 10–14, 2012. Participants who register by June 11th will receive complimentary participation in the optional final day workshop Attaining Process Improvement Excellence in Health Care, the Forces of Change book collection, and participation in the Forces of Change virtual web seminars.

The book collection includes Forces of Change: New Strategies for the Evolving Health Care Marketplace (David A. Shore, Oxford University Press, July 2012), a new book by Forces faculty members. This book provides thought leadership on many of the critical issues health care leaders face every day. Forces of Change authors who will also participate in the 2012 executive program include:

  • Michael Dowling, CEO of North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System, will discuss managing stakeholder interests in hospitals and health systems
  • Ashish Jha, C. Boyden Gray Associate Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health, explores electronic health record implementation
  • Lucian Leape, Adjunct Professor of Health Policy at the Harvard School of Public Health, focuses on the future of patient safety

Participants who register by May 23rd will also be able to participate in Performance Improvement Post-Mortem — 10 Avoidable Mistakes Standing Between Short-Lived and Sustained Change, a virtual web seminar open to participants of the Forces of Change program and colleagues from their organization. This virtual web seminar, presented by Jeremy Boal, MD, Chief Medical Officer of North Shore – Long Island Jewish Health System, will discuss how to avoid 10 common mistakes in designing improvement efforts and programs.

I encourage you to review the Forces of Change website and consider registering soon to participate in both the executive education program and the complimentary virtual web seminar.

I look forward to your active participation in Forces of Change.

Regards,
