Join thought leaders from all segments of the healthcare industry, including providers, payers, vendors, consultants and secondary data users, to learn the best implementation strategies to successfully move your organization from ICD-9-CM to ICD-10-CM/PCS while gaining efficiencies and maintaining quality in coding workflow.
This premier healthcare event, dedicated to the exploration of the challenges and opportunities represented in the transition to ICD-10-CM/PCS and the application of CAC technology, features open discussion and participation. Participants will develop strategies for 2013-2014, including effective use of CAC, maximizing opportunities, and employing data analytics to achieve high-quality data accuracy.
Of particular interest at this year's summit:
- SPECIAL PLENARY SPEAKER: Gail L. Graham, Assistant Deputy Under Secretary for Informatics and Analytics,
VHA Office of Informatics and Analytics, US Department of Veterans Affairs, will share the challenges and lessons learned in ICD-10 implementation at the VA.
- Be among the first to learn and discuss the results of two very important studies related to ICD-10-CM/PCS, CAC technology, and data integrity:
- The Role of the HIM Professional and CAC Technology in Ensuring Data Integrity: This two-phase research study (conducted by the AHIMA Foundation and the Cleveland Clinic Health System) examined the impact
of CAC on coding practices related to ICD-9 and the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10. The study provides insight on how the relationship between CAC technology and the HIM professional positively impact data integrity as it relates to coding accuracy and timeliness, giving attendees a clearer and more concise understanding of how CAC technology may be used to address issues of data integrity and healthcare reform.
- Projected Impact of Conversion on Longitudinal Data: This study collected data and calculated comparability factors for 2,191 records coded in both ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM/PCS in an academic medical center. The session presents comparability
factors for the most common conditions. It concludes with the implications for differences in longitudinal data, as well as next steps.
