Advantage programs received risk-adjusted reimbursement for their
high-risk populations from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services. Now, in the Health Insurance Marketplace, private health plans
are also participating in risk adjustment programs—making the coding of
chronic health conditions more vital to the success of health care
